Please read our terms and conditions carefully before using our services

1. General

These Terms & Conditions govern all services provided by JMD Transport. By booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before engaging our services.

2. Services Provided

We offer nationwide transport, household relocation, pet relocation, vehicle transport (cars, bikes, boats, caravans, trailers), breakbulk, packing materials, storage, wrapping, and packaging. All services are subject to availability and prior booking.

3. Quotations & Pricing

All quotations are valid for 7 days. After 7 days, the quoted amount will increase by 10%. Pricing may vary depending on the distance, load size, special requirements, or changes to the original booking. Additional charges may apply for delays caused by the client or unforeseen circumstances.

4. Booking & Payment

Bookings are only confirmed once a deposit or full payment (as agreed) has been received. The balance is due before or on the day of service. Payments can be made via EFT, cash, or other approved methods. Failure to make payment will result in cancellation of the booking.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellation / Postponement must be done at least five working days prior to the removal, or a 50% charge will be levied. Cancellations / Postponements must be done in writing - no telephonic cancellations / postponements will be accepted.

6. Client Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper packaging of goods unless JMD Transport is contracted for wrapping/packing services.
  • Provide accurate information about the goods, including size, weight, and special handling requirements.
  • Ensure access to the property (parking, loading zones, clear pathways).
  • Be present or appoint an authorized representative at collection and delivery locations.
  • Ensure nothing is taken in error or left behind.
  • Take responsibility for security of your goods at departure and destination points.
  • Stabilise appliances, ensure boxes are sealed and packaged properly.

7. Goods in Transit

While we take every precaution to handle your goods with care, JMD Transport is not liable for damage caused by improper packaging, hidden defects, or items prohibited by law. Clients are encouraged to obtain their own insurance cover for goods in transit.

8. Liability

We are not responsible for delays caused by traffic, weather, strikes, accidents, or other circumstances beyond our control. Liability is limited to direct damages and does not cover consequential or indirect losses (e.g., missed appointments, loss of income).

9. Pets & Live Animals

Special care is taken for pet relocation. Owners must provide all necessary documentation, permits, and health certificates. JMD Transport is not liable for injury, illness, or death of pets caused by natural causes, stress, or inadequate instructions from the client.

10. Vehicles

Vehicles must be in a drivable condition unless otherwise agreed. Owners are responsible for removing all personal belongings. JMD Transport is not liable for mechanical failures unrelated to the transport process.

11. Storage

Storage services are provided at the client's risk. Clients must ensure items stored are legal, non-hazardous, and properly packed. Late collection of stored items may result in additional storage fees.

12. Access & Additional Charges

In the event of bad access for our trucks or long walks (greater than 20 metres), a shuttle service will be required at the client's cost or a carry service is to be charged per hour. All long distance moves are transported in a Horse and enclosed Trailer/Quoted on part loads.

We have to collect or deliver above first floor and were not notified beforehand. The road or access is unsuitable for our vehicles and we need to send a bakkie to shuttle which we were not notified of beforehand. (Vehicle Length 22 meters). If we have to deliver or collect on a farm or a small holding more than a 20 kilometre distance additional, costs will apply.

13. Insurance Coverage

ALL RISK INSURANCE COVERS THE FOLLOWING:

  • Coverage against breakages – if there is any cosmetic/exterior damages due to handling of goods during the move. JMD TRANSPORT will take full responsibility for it providing it was listed and valuated by yourself on our insurance inventory list. Depending on the severity of the damage itself the item will either be repaired or replaced for the insured amount.
  • Theft – Your goods will also be covered against theft again providing it was on the insurance inventory list.
  • Boxes – Boxes are covered for theft and not for breakages unless professionally packed by JMD TRANSPORT. Boxes must be numbered, valuated and supplied to us before removal date so in the event of a claim there is a value to each box.
  • Concrete goods – Concrete goods e.g. garden furniture, pot plants etc. are not covered for breakages.
  • An excess of 10% minimum R1710 is to be paid by the customer in the unlikely event of a claim. Minimum insurance charge is R1140.00

JMD TRANSPORT will not be held responsible for any loss or damages occurred to your goods if you have not taken the all risk insurance cover.

14. Terms of Payment

Payment for your removal and other services is strictly cash, or bank transfer (no cheques or cheque deposits). Removals will not be done without full payment.

We require full payment to be paid before collection is authorised. No booking is confirmed until the total amount is paid.

Quote reference number must be used as a reference and proof of payment is compulsory to our office, prior to the removal.

Accept that by paying the full amount the clients agrees to JMD TRANSPORT terms and conditions.

15. How To Make A Booking

Should you wish to accept our quotation we need you to initial and sign each & every page of this contract & email it back to us with full, proof of payment. Or you can make payment arrangements. Once full payment has been made and we receive proof of payment we can make the booking for you. (First come, First serve)

16. Quotation Basis

We at JMD TRANSPORT offer all our clients a professional one on one service. We give each and every client individual attention focused on their needs required to move stress free. Each move is considered of high importance. We go the extra mile for all our clients, we try to be as accommodating as possible to all clients as we have a daily schedule that we work too.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All items not listed, are not quoted for will be charged for. We will transport extra items if there is enough space on the truck. The invoice will be adjusted accordingly with any extra charges that were not originally quoted on.
  • We have given you as the client an opportunity to take out extra insurance and in the unlikely event of claim we will not honour any claim unless the correct insurance is taken and paid for.
  • Our working hours are from 6am-10pm, if a client is willing to accommodate after 10pm this can be arranged.
  • Please note all part loads take longer than special loads. Part loads may take considerably longer.
  • Please be understanding as our trucks may not always be punctual as loads differ and/or unforeseen problems may occur.
  • Please note that the team is not allowed to dismantle or assemble any items. This should be done by yourself.
  • JMD TRANSPORT will not be held responsible for unforeseen delays such as bad weather, clients holding the truck up at collection and delivery points, road works or accidents and breakdowns.
  • All contents will be wrapped in blankets as STANDARD.
  • All our vehicles are fully enclosed.

By signing all documentation or by making a payment you agree to JMD TRANSPORT terms and conditions.

17. Ownership of Goods

By entering into this contract you warrant that:

  • The goods to be removed are your own property.
  • You will indemnify us in respect of any damages and/or costs against us if this warranty is not true.

18. What is excluded from this contract:

  • Transport or storage of jewellery, watches, precious stones, money securities, fire arms, keys and explosive items.
  • Refrigerated or frozen food.
  • Pot plants or any other heavy objects which require 3 men or more to lift, any additional staff at clients expense.

19. Share Loads

All Share Load quotes are subject to other confirmed loads on the same route. Should cancellations of other loads occur, customers quoted and booked for Share Loads must accept the fact that dates and times may vary.

20. Cancellations

Cancellation / Postponement must be done at least five working days prior to the removal, or a 50% charge will be levied. Cancellations / Postponements must be done in writing - no telephonic cancellations / postponements will be accepted.

21. Our Right to Hold Goods

We have a legal right to withhold some or all the goods until you have paid all charges under this contract. You will be liable to pay storage charges and costs incurred while we are withholding your goods. If delivered and not paid in full we have the right to collect the goods of the client and sell it to cover our costs.

22. List of Goods (Inventory)

All goods transported must be on the inventory list. Any changes to the inventory list must be done in writing. Final inventory list must be confirmed 48 hours prior to the removal. All changes to the inventory list will have cost implications.

23. Damage to Premises

You must note all damages to premises and confirm it in writing within (7) seven days. The time limit is essential. Our liability will be limited to R500 and we may arrange to have the damage repaired ourselves.

24. Delaying Of Vehicle

If our vehicle is delayed due to negligence or if we have to wait for you when it comes to loading and offloading, you will be charged a standoff fee per day if applicable.

25. Complaints

Any complaints must be reported in writing within 48 hours of delivery. Failure to notify JMD Transport within this period may result in claims being invalidated.

26. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved under South African jurisdiction.

27. Amendments

JMD Transport reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. Clients are encouraged to review the Terms regularly.
